If you are a bachata, salsa, casino, or social dancer, you are welcome! Unlike our typical Intermediate classes, this class will be slowing way down. If you have the basics of partner dance (rhythm, frame, timing, alignment, handholds, etc), you’re welcome to come give this a try! We will be offering drop-ins for the first week ONLY. Bring $15 cash or Venmo. If you decide you love it and want to join us for the whole month, then you can pay that day on the spot.
This month, Intermediate Salsa welcomes the new graduates of the Beginner course! We will explore the OG casino moves of Son, dance contra-tiempo (on 2), and work on some new combinations. Son is the mother of all salsa so learning son means bettering your salsa, regardless of which you prefer to dance (casino, on2, on1, PR style, mambo, whatever)!
We will focus primarily on moves that you can take to the dance floor like paseo, rodeo, exhibe, dile que si, saloneo, olas, and lots of closed position There will be new moves for the intermediate folks like olas and doble lateral and beginners will have time to work on foundational moves like vacilala, paso de son (obviously), and rombo! Many variations on old favorites (like Dedo) are coming this month.
Son Cubano is a very elegant dance. Dressing up or even practicing dancing in heels is perfectly fine. Sneakers and athletic clothing is always acceptable.
Typically to join our Intermediate Salsa class, you must have completed our Beginner Series to join this class or have special permission from the instructor. We occasionally offer drop-ins when guest instructors come into town and do not allow drop ins as our classes build on one another.
